A Little Bit of Honesty..

Right I've decided it's finally time to write this post. I've been putting it off for a while, partly because I wasn't sure why I was feeling like this and partly because I'm afraid of what you all might say.

I really have just been going through the motions of weight loss recently.

I've lost my drive.

I'm not saying I've started to eat a lot again and that I've completely stopped exercising because I haven't. I enjoy exercising. I'm still going to the gym, I still swim. I'm still being active. I'm just not busting my ass off any more.

On the food side, I'm not calorie counting any more either but I'm also not scoffing myself either. I still eat healthy. Try and eat fresh foods. Get my protein in. Avoid too many carbs. Still eating whole wheat. I'm just also enjoying some other foods again. Trying to keep it in balance.

I know I still want to eventually get to 11 Stone but at the moment I'm fine with who I am. I am happy. I'm not obsessing about my weight and I like that.

So I'm questioning why I need to try and lose weight so hard, when I'm finally happy with me?

I will try and do some more exercise though, as I truly believe that is the best way to lose weight and to keep it off.

I still want to follow all you in your weight loss journeys but I'm debating whether to continue with RFSC.

What do you all think?

Emily xxxx

  1. You are not alone in this. We ALL go through blocks like this. Sometimes, you've got to put yourself first and look at what really makes you happy. Are you happy enough as you are? Is it just the scale that is having a lowering effect on your life? That is certainly true on my part, I am happy with life, it's just the scales I REALLY despise (and the nurse at my GP surgery) Sometimes there are much much more important things in life than your weight. I'm not saying give up entirely by any means whatsoever, but to assess daily life and maybe make a few changes. I HAVE to change my diet/routines regularly as I falter too and it brings on a spell of self loathing. It's not worth it. Learn to live and love life the way things are and if you want to do a little personal improvements, you know how to do it. Support is about support whatever your situation. You sound like you have reached the point where you are happy doing what you are doing. Feeling good and enjoying life means a hell of a lot more than getting the right number on the scales. xxx

  3. Ah Emily we are in the same boat. Maybe you need to take a break and regroup. I am SLOWLY getting back into the swing of things. I wish you all the best. These feelings will pass.

  4. Because I'm new to challenges, they are fun and interesting. If they become boring, I'll quit joining in I suspect. I hope you get your mojo back but if you are really happy with where you are, that's a good thing. :)

  5. Instead of quitting the challenge, how bout change up your goals. For example, I have no weight-loss goal and my NSV's, exercise and nutrition goals are more focused on getting healthier/stronger instead of strictly weight-loss.

I totally understand where you are about the weight and how you're already happy with yourself... but getting healthier is something I think everyone can work on.

Hope you stick around with us a little longer. =)

  6. Being happy with where you are is a good thing. Perhaps instead of not continuing the challenge you can just adjust your goals. Sometimes when you've got a certain number in mind and let it be the only focus, other things get in the way -- you don't really enjoy exercise or what you're eating ... it's all about the goal.

It seems like you're at the point where you want to enjoy your lifestyle, which sounds healthy to me.

  7. I think you're right... I may not need to be on this challenge to lose weight but I should be on it to continue keeping fit and healthy. I think I'm going to keep mulling over what I really want but please do keep commenting... I value all your opinions.

  8. I think that staying on the challenge could help you to stay on the right path, so to speak. Change your goals and adjust them to where you are now.

Remember, this is your life, your body, your journey. Do what's right for YOU!

  9. ive just been through this, and i know exactly what its like. maybe you just need a break for a month or two. just try and maintain, then get back on the wagon and push to lose a bit more then. it takes a lot of emotional energy to lose weight and its hard to put all the energy into one thing for so long :) you will get there. just concentrate on your health and your body will follow

  10. Babe, it's your life and you need to do what makes you happy. You've come so far and I'm so proud of you. You look amazing. You seem happier.

Sometimes life is more than dieting. It gets in the way and you have to work around it. You have to live your life as well. If you're staying healthy and exercising I don't see why you won't get to where you want to be.

Losing weight takes time. It's not a race. You have to do it at your own pace. You need to do something that you can stick to from here on out. You will get to your goal but it may take time and you have to be happy on your journey.

I agree with the other ladies, stick with the challenge because it keeps you focussed but maybe adjust your goals.

    Much love x x x

  11. Hey!

I actually read this a few days ago, but came back to it today because I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm at the stage where, no, I'm not really happy with how I look, but I'm so much happiER than I was before, that it makes you sometimes get fed up with all the calorie counting. I think the first few weeks of weight loss are exciting, but after that it sort of drags.

If you only have about a stone and a half to lose, you could set yourself really small goals like 1 pound a week? With that, you'd be at 11 stone well before the end of the year without as much ass-busting and pressure on eating lower calories.

My feeling is that even though you're just going through the motions now, your target weight is achievable and when you get to it, all this dieting will be worth it and you'll never, ever have to do it again.

It's cheesy (and maybe I've been spending too much time looking at fitspo on tumblr), but when I can't be bothered to get out of bed to exercise before work, I think of the quote "nothing worth having comes easy" and it helps me to push a little.

Hope you figure out what you want to do, because you've done really great so far. x
